Don’t Believe All You’re Heard

Manx Care claims the service provision for audiology appointments in Ramsey is not changing, despite it now being facilitated by a volunteer.

It said the Hearing Clinic will continue to operate as normal offering simple repairs, such as replacing batteries changing hearing aid tubing and hooks.

Manx Care said it was aware of what it called “incorrect information circulating”.

It added: “All testing and other Audiology issues are based at Noble’s Hospital with patients from all areas of the Island travelling to the Noble’s site.

“There is patient transport in place for those who require assistance travelling to and from appointments and we can also arrange domiciliary visits for those who are housebound.”

However, residents have hit back at these claims, saying that it is a reduction in services.

One resident commented: “The clinic was staffed by an audiologist assistant who could provide advice on hearing loss and such issues.”

Another added that it “will lead to longer waiting times all round”.
