Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall has restated that it is up to Danadara when the Ballasalla bypass will be built.
The bypass, included as part of the Reayrt Mie development, is intended to ease congestion in the village and serve the new estate.
Asked for an update by John Wannenbugh (Douglas North), Mr Crookall said the scheme is a “privately funded development constructed in two phases and not a department initiative”.
He added: “The second phase leading from the A5 Douglas Road has been substantially completed but this is only to allow for the access into Phases 2 and 3 of the housing development for residents.
“The remaining phase (Phase 1) has no end date for completion as there is no commercial value for the developer to complete this section until they are ready to do so in their own time and budget.”

The bypass is being constructed under a section four agreement between the department and the developer.
Mr Crookall said: “The section four agreement states that inspections will take place at agreed times during construction and will then be placed on a five-year maintenance period if accepted as being constructed according to the submitted agreed design, before being formally adopted.
‘Currently no part of the Bypass is adopted or under any maintenance period.”
