Corinthians head to St Georges this weekend knowing a win would bring them within three points of league leaders Peel.
After beating Ayre 4-3 last week, Corinthians have threatened to open up what has long looked like a two horse between the tangerines and Peel.
With St Georges fighting an uphill battle to prevent the 19 times champions from sliding through the relegation trap door, metaphors are getting out of control, but Corinthians know that Geordies are always in with a chance of pulling off a win.
If they can win, Corinthians would be three points behind Peel, who as coincidence happens, they play next week.
As for Ayre, they will be looking to bounce back from that 4-3 loss at Ballafletcher as they welcome mid table Union Mills to Andreas.
Despite winning the Railway Cup, Ayre’s league form has been bizarre at times the season and they haven’t won a league game since coming back from 3-0 down to win 3-4 away at Marown on November 2, dropping six points in their last three.
Mills have been a bit Jekyll and Hyde themselves this season, recording big wins against Marown and Laxey, but taking a couple of heavy beatings along the way.
However, a win for Ayre and Corinthians will ensure this is a three horse title race.
Around The Grounds
Returning to the bottom of the league, Marown will look to kickstart the great escape when they head to St Johns on Saturday. Eight points from safety with nine games to go, the farmers need a minor miracle, but if Man Utd can beat Southampton, anything is possible.
Meanwhile, Onchan will look to put some room between themselves and the bottom two when they welcome Foxdale. The miners have played fewer games than those around them, so it’s a tad hard to know what to expect from them, but the O’s will be hoping they can pick up a valuable point.
Elsewhere, Laxey welcome Rushen and St Mary’s head to Ramsey.
