Three island swimmers starred at the recent Swim England Masters National Championships, coming away with a mighty four-medal haul.
Sophie Casson, Gabby Cooper and Sean McLachlan were all in action at Ponds Forge International Sport Centre last weekend (October 24/24), swimming under the Manx flag.
Casson was in scintillating form across her three events taking a hat-trick of golds in the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle contests. Her favoured 200m distance made for the pick of the bunch as, in addition to winning the event in fine fashion, the Manxwoman set a new British and European record in the process.
Cooper competed in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke as well as the 100m freestyle. She delivered a string of impressive performances to swim personal best times in all four events, and take a silver medal in 200m backstroke.
McLachlan swam in the 100m, 200m backstroke and the 100m freestyle, delivering three personal bests and narrowly missing out on the 100m backstroke podium when finishing fourth in what was described as a very competitive age category.
