We are in for a blustery end of the week and the UK Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for high winds.
The wind is due to pick up overnight on Thursday (January 23) into Friday (January 24) morning.
In the early hours of Friday gusts of 60mph are forecast, that will soon build to gusts of up to 80mph by midday.
By 3pm on Friday the wind will have softened to gusts of 60mph, before dropping (according to XC Weather) back to 20mph overnight.
At the time of writing this, the rest of the weekend looks absolutely grand and no more gales until Monday afternoon.
As we all are aware, the forecast could change so don’t take this as gospel, but if it comes to fruition, I told you first.
Winds of 80mph
The UK Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the wind on Friday and Saturday.
It says that a deep area of low pressure is expected to pass close to or across the northwest of the UK on Friday and Saturday.
It will bring a spell of very strong southeasterly to southwesterly winds with gusts reaching 50-60 mph inland and 70-80 mph along coasts (and perhaps higher than this in a few locations).
The wind strength will gradually ease through Saturday from the south.
The Steam Packet is also currently monitoring forecasts from Thursday to Saturday, although it says the potential impact on sailings is unknown.
