Main Road to Close for ‘Crucial’ TT Works

The A3 Ramsey to Castletown Road will close to through traffic between Ballig Bridge and Cronk Y Voddy for up to a fortnight from 9.30am on Monday March 17..

This closure will be on a 24/7 basis.

This closure is to allow construction of an improved surface water drainage system on the lower section of Creg Willey’s Hill, between Glen Helen and Sarah’s Cottage.

Properties between Ballig and Glen Helen will be accessible from Ballig Bridge and the south at all times while properties between Sarah’s Cottage and Cronk Y Voddy crossroads will be accessible from Kirk Michael and the north at all times.

A signed diversion route via Poortown Road/Peel/Kirk Michael will be in operation throughout.

This work has been instigated by a request from the race organiser, ACU Events Ltd to alleviate the risk of water seeping onto the carriageway during the TT and MGP Races.

It has been identified as essential to allow these events to run in 2025

Patience

Clerk of The Course Gary Thompson said: “I appreciate the patience and understanding of residents and road users while this essential work takes place.

“I recognise that some disruption may be caused, but these improvements are crucial to ensuring the safety of riders competing at TT 2025 and beyond.

“The resurfacing and drainage upgrades will help mitigate risks associated with surface water, ultimately enhancing the integrity of the course. Thank you for your cooperation.”
