Sexual Assault Centre Nearing Completion

Works on the new Sexual Assault Referral Centre is set to be completed by late May of this year.

SARC will transform the way victims of sexual assault access medical care, treatment, wellbeing and forensic services.

Once complete the SARC will be able to deliver a full range of medical, support and forensic services on island.

Near Completion

Work has now started on the specialist installation of the cleanroom suite and associated air handling equipment inside the facility.

Government say that in the coming weeks mechanical and electrical first works throughout the building will begin.

This will be alongside external drainage works, with kerbs, footpaths and roadways also being set out.

Sexual Assault Centre

The centre will be run by medical professionals, and victims will be able to access the service with a self-referral (without involvement from the Police).

Government hope this will take the pressure off victims to immediately decide if they wish to pursue criminal proceedings.

Once fully operational the facility will be equipped to respond 24/7.
