Meeting to Oppose Area Plan

Kate Lord-Brennan MHK

Residents of Glenfaba & Peel have been invited to attend a public meeting scheduled next week to focus on opposition to the Area Plan for the North and West.

The meeting has been organised by Kate Lord-Brennan MHK who is also looking at how to make improvements for the centre of Peel.

The first part of the meeting will focus on the expansion of Peel and potential zoning of greenfield land for housing development as outlined in the Modified Draft North West Area Plan[LK(1] , and the background to the legal process to date.

With the final consultation on this closing on Thursday March 27, Ms Lord-Brennan wants to ensure residents can “effectively register their opposition to protect Peel’s green spaces and limit the further expansion of the town”.

The second part of the evening will shift focus to ideas and potential routes, including funding routes, for improvements to the centre of Peel following work already carried out on ideas to enhance the town’s aesthetic appeal and functionality.

This follows the MHK’s “Future Peel” online engagement and the launch of the Local Economy Strategy by Government.

The meeting will be held at the Kelvin Dawson Community Hub on Thursday March 13 at 7pm.

Area Plan Opposition

Ms Lord-Brennan has previously said she will oppose the plan when it comes to Tynwald, with much of this being focussed on the late inclusions of proposed development of greenfield sites on the outskirts of Peel, running from Douglas Road to the Ramsey road.
