Ramsey Lifeboat Station has congratulated Edd Christian on completing his training as a Shannon mechanic.
Having started as a volunteer in Ramsey, Edd has also served at Douglas as a Coxswain.
The role of mechanic is a full time one with the RNLI, ensuring its boats are read to fulfil the volunteer’s ultimate role of saving life at sea.
The station said: “Following a busy day of training and assessment we offer our congratulations to Edd Christian who has been passed out as a Shannon mechanic.
“When the opportunity presented itself to join the full time RNLI shore staff (who provide cover around the coast) he took up the challenge and is now completing a comprehensive training program to become proficient in the operation of the RNLI fleet in roles of both Coxswain and Mechanic.
“Edd is one of three Ramsey volunteers who have recently taken full time roles with the RNLI so we must be doing something right.”
