Chair of the island’s Licensed Victualler’s Association says he isn’t bothered too much about the UK chain taking over 1886 Bar and Restaurant.
Last night (March 31) J D Wetherspoon confirmed that it will be opening its first pub on Manx shores.
Andy Gibbs, chair of the LVA said “Personally, it doesn’t bother me too much.
“Competition makes you up your game. If things need to be adjusted, we adapt.
“We’re a resilient crew here on the Isle of Man, and a lot of our patrons are loyal. They’ll go and try it, but many will come back to us.”
