Janus AI, a cutting-edge artificial intelligence platform developed on the Isle of Man, has been named a finalist in the Innovation Challenge 2025, competing in the Data & AI category.
Inviting some of the best minds from near and afar, the challenge tasked entrants with presenting real world solutions for the FinTech, Cleantech, and Data & AI sectors.
The company’s proprietary technology offers businesses an intelligent, omnichannel solution to manage customer interactions—without sacrificing personalisation.
From Business Challenge to AI Innovation
The company was born from a real-world problem.
James Crawford, founder of Janus AI, identified a recurring issue in his existing business: seasonal spikes in customer enquiries across multiple channels—phone, WhatsApp, SMS, email, and web chat.
“We prided ourselves on knowledgeable, personal service, but scaling that quality during peak periods without overloading staff or relying on costly, impersonal call centres proved difficult,” he explained.
Determined to find a solution, he partnered with Technical Director Reza Ehsani in August 2024 to develop Janus AI—a platform designed to seamlessly integrate with CRMs, calendars, and booking systems while maintaining a human-like touch.
Why the Innovation Challenge?
For Janus AI, the Innovation Challenge 2025 is more than a competition—it’s a launchpad.
“As founders who have been on the island for just over a year, we’ve been inspired by the energy and ambition of the local business landscape,” James said.
“We’re eager to build meaningful connections with other island-based entrepreneurs and changemakers.”
The team also sees the Challenge as a way to overcome funding hurdles.
“Securing investment for AI-driven solutions can be challenging. The Innovation Challenge provides valuable visibility, credibility, and access to networks that can help bridge that gap,” he added.
A Transformative AI Solution
Unlike off-the-shelf chatbots, Janus AI is built entirely in-house, offering businesses full customisation—from tone of voice to workflow integration.
“Rather than replacing human teams, Janus AI works alongside them—automating repetitive tasks, handling routine enquiries, and freeing up staff for high-value work,” James noted.
Key features include:
✔ Omnichannel integration (Voice, WhatsApp, SMS, email, web chat)
✔ Real-time learning & adaptation
✔ Seamless CRM & calendar sync
Next Steps: Scaling & Launch
The company’s immediate focus is securing investment and launching commercially within six months, initially targeting the Isle of Man and UK markets.
“We want to help establish the Isle of Man as a thriving hub for digital innovation,” James said. “This is just the beginning.”
