The Vehicle Testing Centre has announced an immediate ban on practising driving manoeuvres within its grounds between 9am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.
The DoI said this is due to a combination of factors, “including a significant increase in both staff and customer vehicles on-site, ongoing live tests across all categories, and scheduled vehicle examinations”.
It said: “The presence of driving practice taking place in both public and staff parking areas is disrupting daily operations and potentially poses a risk to safety.
“Therefore, this can no longer be allowed.”
The restriction applies to all drivers, including those under private or professional instruction.
“We fully understand that this decision may be disappointing. However, it has been made in the best interests of the safety and efficiency of all individuals on site,” the department added.
