Manxman Could be Back by Morning

Depending on successful completion of repairs and tests, Manxman should be back in action by tomorrow morning.

Spare parts to replace the failed components on Manxman have now arrived on island and the service engineer has arrived on the vessel in order to complete the repairs.

Provided these progress as expected, Manxman is scheduled to undertake a short series of sea trials this evening.

If the sea trials are satisfactory Manxman will resume service with tomorrow morning’s 8:30am departure to Heysham.

Ben-my-Chree will then resume a freight-only service to and from Heysham, in support of Manxman during the busy racing period.

Not Plain Sailing

It’s been far from plain sailing for the Steam Packet the past couple of days after Manxman was sidelined by an electrical component failure in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The Steam Packet then drafted in the old faithful Ben-my-Chree, which unfortunately sustained damage to its firefighting equipment during freight loading operations at Heysham on Wednesday morning.

Manannan’s services to Dublin and Liverpool today have been impacted by the delays that originated with the accidental damage to Ben-my-Chree in Heysham on Wednesday morning.

It is expected Manannan will resume its normal schedule from the 7:30am departure to Liverpool tomorrow.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company would like to extend its thanks to the travelling public for their patience and understanding as it responds to a challenging set of circumstances..
