An MHK is to seek support to mark the 50th anniversary of the Tynwald Millennium celebrations.
The island celebrated 1,000 years of the world’s oldest continuous parliament in 1979.
Back in 1979, the year was marked with special events including Odin’s Raven being sailed to the island and the Queen presiding over Tynwald.
To mark 50 years since those events, Chris Thomas will ask members to create a five person committee to establish the best way to celebrate.
He wants that committee to co-ordinate its celebration in a fitting manner, to consult with government, the Tynwald Ceremony Arrangements Committee and other interested bodies, with power to co-opt non-Tynwald members of interested bodies on to any sub-committees considered necessary.
His motion will be debated at the November sitting.
