Training Progressing Well for Volunteers

Douglas Lifeboat Station has reported significant progress in its ongoing crew training programme.

The Trent crossover training has seen crews trained online with a few also attending training courses across.

The station said: “Our three trainee Navigators, CJ Petzer, James Betteridge (Mechanic) and Edward Bennett all went to the RNLI Lifeboat College for their Navigator course which gives a strong foundation to build upon for search and rescue navigation.”

Qualifications

In addition, two other volunteers have achieved a key qualification.

It said: “Our two trainee Coxswains, Robert Radcliffe and Oli Dimelow, have just successfully completed their Long Range Communication qualification giving them the technical understanding on how to send messages and radio telephony across all frequencies.”

The station emphasised the importance of this continuous development, adding: “The crew commitment to training ensures that the station is ready to assist in a wide variety of situations to the high standards expected of us.”
