Schools on the island have been called out by parents for not providing cutlery when students have forgotten to bring them in.
A parent received an email from a primary school after their child forgot to bring a piece of cutlery in with their packed lunch.
In the email, the school told the parent that “the School Meals Service are unable to provide cutlery to children on packed lunches, who may have forgotten any cutlery that they need to use with their meal.
“Therefore, if your child has a packed lunch could you please ensure that they have necessary cutlery in their lunch bag.
“We apologise for the inconvenience that this may cause and trust you understand that we must comply with the School Meals Service policy.”

The email was shared on social media and prompted other parents who had experienced the same to share their story.
One parent said: “My daughter forgot her water bottle once. They refused to give her a plastic cup to get water.”
Whilst another said: “I had to cancel a meeting I had and head back to school because we had forgotten a water bottle. I was called up and asked to go back.
“I asked about an alternative water vessel that they might have for 7 year old kids in this situation and they said no – we have tiny paper cups that break the minute water goes in them and that’s it, so please come back in and drop off the water bottle.”
