Library to Reopen Under New Name

One of the island’s most popular community facilities will make a triumphant return this weekend.

The former Family Library is re-opening its doors under a new name with the same dedicated team behind it.

The newly established Manx Family Centre will officially open on Saturday under the guidance of charity, the Manx Family Community Association.

A family fun filled day of craft, games, books and music at the Centre in Westmoreland Road is scheduled from 10.30am-4pm, including a Stickyfingers craft extravaganza with drop-in sessions from 10.30am-midday and 1-3.30pm, Parachute Games from 12 noon and Jolly Music sessions in the afternoon.

There will also be a large assortment of toys and games to play with. Glitter tattoos will be available throughout the day and there’ll also be raffle tickets on sale with the chance to win a Family Hamper.

Collaborate

“We are all just so excited to be in and to welcome families back through the doors,” said Sue Jolly, Centre manager.

In the coming weeks, the Centre will also relaunch its bibliotherapy and mobile library services, with extended opening hours to accommodate community groups, charities and island businesses who require space for meetings or activities.

The Manx Family Centre said it is proud to collaborate with organisations including Manx Mencap, Sight Matters, Isle Listen, Live at Home and Autism in Mann.

“The re-opening has been made possible through the generosity and belief of Islanders. We simply wouldn’t be in this position without the help, support and commitment from suppliers, government and the many individuals who gave so generously, whether through our JustGiving page or directly to the Manx Family Centre.

“It’s been truly humbling to see and hear the encouragement from so many sectors of our Manx community,” added Jennie Thompson, MFCA director.

“We look forward to seeing as many people as possible on Saturday when there’ll be a chance to sign up and become a Member of the Manx Family Centre. Together we can make a difference.”
