The issue of the MiCard withdrawal will be back before Tynwald tomorrow as members continue to seek answers.
Government is withdrawing the MiCard system at the end of the year, switching benefits and pension payments to bank accounts.
However, while it is being withdrawn, the issue of what replaces is for those who don’t have or can’t open a bank account has not been properly answered.
That lack of clarity has led to members asking Treasury to pause the pulling of the plug, but minister Dr Alex Allinson has said this would incur “considerable cost” and promised a solution.
Well, tomorrow, he will be asked to tell members what that solution is as Lawrie Hooper asks what backstops will be implemented by January 1.
