The Minister for Infrastructure is due to make a statement on the Sea Services Framework next month.
At the Government Conference earlier this year, the DoI Minister Dr Michelle Haywood said an update on the Sea Services Agreement by the end of the year.
However, a working group established by the DOI to develop a new framework for sea services was only formed in the later part of 2025.
The working group includes representatives from the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, the Treasury, the Department of Infrastructure, the Department for Enterprise, and the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
Sea Services
One of the recommendations made by Tynwald was that, when developing the new framework for sea services, the working group established by the DoI should ensure that the framework provides services that support the island’s socio-economic needs.
Tynwald members were told in December that it was not necessary to bring a varied sea services agreement to Tynwald.
Although the original agreement was brought before Tynwald.
The DoI Minister will make the statement on the agreement in the January Tynwald sitting.
