A series of overnight closures will affect the Millennium Bridge in Douglas from Monday for essential maintenance.
The work forms part of a long-term programme to replace the bridge’s two original hydraulic cylinders, now 25 years old.
The DoI said: “Next week, the second of the original cylinders will be taken out and replaced with this refurbished unit.”
To facilitate the work, the bridge will close from 8pm to 6am each night until Friday morning. No pedestrian or vehicle access will be permitted, with traffic diverted via the Stone Bridge.
Access for vessels to the inner harbour will also be restricted during the works.
