There were quality fields in all the races at the final round of the Winter Walk League at the NSC, but I think the standout performance undoubtedly came from Lilee Fletcher-Merryweather in the 3km race.
Lilee clocked a fantastic time of 14:24, which was not only a huge personal best but also broke the U15 Girls Isle of Man record of 15:09, which had stood to Lauren Whelan since January 2007.
Even more impressively, I understand from Allan Callow that it is the fastest-ever time by an u15 girl in Great Britain, and just outside the fastest track time. It really was a brilliant performance.
Lilee has worked extremely hard and been completely dedicated to race walking for several years now, and has been consistently rewriting the local record books.
She is a really exciting prospect as she goes up through the age groups and looks to have a big future in the sport.
