The Chief Minister is going to be asked what impact he expects the Steam Packet’s increase in fuel surcharge is likely to have.
Alf Cannan will be asked about the issue in an urgent question from Jason Moorhouse on Tuesday.
Next week will see fuel surcharges rise 25.8% increase, with haulage firms warning about rise of prices for consumers.
Mr Moorhouse will ask Mr Cannan: “In what circumstances the Steam Packet Company may increase a fuel surcharge and what powers exist to prevent this or impose a decrease; when the Steam Packet Company advised Treasury of the imminent 25.8% increase; what assessment has been made of the impact on residents and businesses; and what action has been taken to mitigate that impact.”
