Peter Hickman secured second place in this first Superbike race but admitted he is still searching for his best form around the Mountain Course.
“It took me till lap four to chill properly,” Hickman said. “It’s a really weird thing to say, we’re racing, pounding around here at 200 mile an hour, and we’re chilled.”
He added: “I’m still not how I should be yet. I’m not hitting all my markers how I want to hit. I don’t feel quite myself. But on lap four onwards, I started to feel more like me.”
A rapid second pit stop from his team proved decisive. “The boys have done a great job,” Hickman said.
“We’ve had a lot of criticism over a lot of years of being slow, whether it’s me or whether it’s the boys, I don’t know, but obviously somebody pulled the finger out.”
