Isle of Man Samaritans is highlighting the work of its volunteers ahead of Samaritans Awareness Day later this month.
It is a reminder that the charity is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for anyone who needs emotional support.
The island’s branch, founded 47 years ago, says it remains “as strong as ever”, with volunteers providing thousands of hours of listening support to people in crisis.
Over the past 12 months, the branch responded to 8,479 contacts and delivered more than 2,000 hours of listening time.

In June alone, Isle of Man Samaritans supported 643 unique contacts, with each active listener answering an average of 15 calls.
The branch was also ranked highest among 19 North West branches for overnight listening minutes per volunteer.
Branch Director Deana Douglas said the day is an opportunity to celebrate volunteers and raise awareness of the charity’s reach.
Fellow Director Aimee Grainger added that having volunteers based on the island helps reduce wait times for local callers, with all funds raised locally supporting Manx initiatives.
The charity says every contact represents someone reaching out at one of the hardest moments of their life, and thousands of opportunities for volunteers to make a difference.
