Sienna Dunn is set for a demanding finale to her junior international career as she anchors England’s Under‑21 squad at the 2026 Euro Hockey Championships, which begin in Valencia this weekend.
The call‑up follows an intense few months in which the former Valkyrs player balanced completing her university degree with England U21 trials and training alongside the GB Elite Development Squad.
Her selection was confirmed earlier this month after a strong week‑long preparation festival against Belgium, the USA and India.
End of the Journey
Now 21, the tournament marks the end of a six‑year journey through England’s junior pathway for Dunn, who originally left the Isle of Man to pursue both academic and sporting ambitions.
Head Coach Simon Letchford will rely heavily on her experience. Dunn has captained England’s U16, U18 and U21 sides, played in two junior World Cups and earned bronze at the 2024 Euros.
The squad faces five high‑intensity matches in seven days. “I am delighted and excited to have the opportunity to compete against Europe’s strongest hockey nations,” Letchford said. “We will face a stern test and take each game as it comes.”
England’s group includes reigning European and World champions the Netherlands and 2024 runners‑up Spain, with their campaign opening on Sunday against Scotland.
Ahead of the tournament, Dunn thanked those who have supported her development, including Gill, Leanna, Paul Jones and Isle of Man Sports Aid.
After the competition, she will begin postgraduate studies at Pennsylvania State University alongside a demanding Big Ten hockey schedule.
