Douglas has achieved a record 10th Green Flag after Hilary Park was recognised for the first time in the 2026 awards run by UK charity Keep Britain Tidy.
Hilary Park joins nine other sites across the city that have retained their status for meeting high standards in safety, cleanliness, maintenance and environmental management.
The recognised sites include Noble’s Park, Loch Promenade, Douglas Golf Course, Douglas Head, Derby Square, Kaye Memorial Garden, Summerhill Glen, Douglas Borough Cemetery and Hutchinson Square.
Douglas entered the scheme in 2013 with two awards and has steadily increased its tally over the past decade.
Councillor Natalie Byron‑Teare, Chair of the Regeneration and Community Committee, said achieving a 10th Green Flag was “a fantastic milestone” and praised staff for maintaining spaces the community can be proud of.
She said the awards reflect the importance of parks and green spaces in everyday life and credited the Parks Services and Cleansing teams for ensuring sites continue to meet demanding standards each year.
