Douglas firefighters contained a grass fire that broke out near Howstrake on King Edward Road, Onchan.
Crews were called at around 11:20am yesterday (July 29) morning to flames spreading along the tramline verge and pushing north into thick vegetation and gorse.
A second appliance and a water bowser were brought in to secure enough water to extinguish the fire and fully dampen the area to stop it reigniting.
Manx Electric Railway staff halted tram movements and police monitored a temporary road closure so crews could work safely. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control.
Despite recent rainfall, ground conditions remain dry after the summer weather.
The service is urging the public to stay alert, avoid discarding cigarettes or naked flames in rural areas, and report any signs of fire promptly.
