Patrick Commissioners says it doesn’t have the money to support the development of a car park at Kionslieu Reservoir.
The local authority was told by the Department of Infrastructure that due to the financial cost the decision was made not include a car park in its redevelopment scheme.
The commissioners were told by the DOI that it would cost £100,000 to reinstate, but it wouldn’t be able to carry out the project without support from the local authority.
Clerk Claire Cope told the board that the development of the car park was part of the planning application.
Commissioner Paul Craker queried how big the area was due to be and Commissioner John Anderson confirmed it was a ‘small’ space for a few cars.
The clerk also said planning support from the commissioners was based on the car park being reinstated.
She added that the request also came despite the DoI’s scheme already having Treasury approval.
The board agreed that it wasn’t in a position to financially support the scheme.
Also on the agenda was a discussion about a proposal to register two buildings in the parish.
The Foxdale Heritage Centre and Knockuskey Cottage in Niarbyl Bay are being considered for registration by the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
The commissioners agreed it was important to protect buildings which had been around for a long time.
And the local authority is looking at improving the skate park and children’s play area in Foxdale.
The clerk said a representative from an equipment company was due to visit the Island but this has been postponed.
She confirmed that once she had met with the company a plan could be submitted to grant schemes.
