The Steam Packet has confirmed its freight vessel MV Arrow is back in service.
The vessel went into dry dock at Birkenhead just over a week ago, but has now returned to action, following repairs. This was after an oil leak was found in one of its control‑pitch propeller systems.
A Steam Packet spokesperson said: “Arrow is back in operation, supporting Ben-my-Chree and ready to provide additional freight capacity and operational support during the busy Manx Grand Prix period, helping to ensure the continued reliable movement of goods to and from the Island.”
The company thanked freight customers “for their patience and understanding while the vessel was out of service”.
Steam Packet woes
The problems with the Arrow could barely have come at a worse time for the Steam Packet, with its flagship vessel the Manxman already in extended dry dock for one of the busiest months of the year.
The Manxman is not expected to be back in service before the end of September, much later than the original planned dry dock period.
