£76k+ Govt Comms Role Advertised

Isle of Man Government Office, Douglas

The government is recruiting a new Head of Strategy, Planning and Campaigns, a senior Cabinet Office communications role paying £76,250-£88,863 a year.

The vacancy comes as the government’s accounts show its workforce is forecast to cost £2 million every day, equivalent to just over £14 million a week in employee spending.

Total forecast employee costs for 2025/26 stand at £729,987,000, running £17.2 million over budget, figures that have placed the size and cost of the public service under growing public scrutiny.

The new role will lead a digital‑first, data‑driven communications strategy, turning government priorities into campaign plans, overseeing performance, advising Ministers and departments, and shaping brand and internal communications across the organisation.

The Cabinet Office says the post offers significant autonomy to modernise how government communicates major priorities and to strengthen public understanding, trust and engagement.

Applications close on September 24.
