Two ballot papers were spoiled, one of which was the former Chief Minister Alfred Cannan, and the other Jason Moorhouse.

Those backing former Treasury Minister, Chris Thomas were: Mrs Poole-Wilson (Middle), Dr Glover (Onchan), Mr Ciappelli (Douglas North), Mr McGuinness (Ramsey), Mr Kemp (Rushen), Mr Cowell (Ramsey), Mr Callister (Onchan), Mr Cochrane (Middle), Mr Davison (Glenfaba and Peel), Mrs Maltby (Douglas South), Mr Saunders (Douglas East), Mr Shimmin (Douglas Central), Ms Faragher (Douglas East), Ms Christian (Douglas South) and Mr Thomas himself (Douglas Central).

Those backing Kirrie Jenkins were: Ms Baptist (Glenfaba and Peel), Mr Crowe (Rushen), Mr Henthorn (Garff), Mr Broad (Ayre and Michael), Ms Hewison (Garff) and Ms Jenkins herself (Arbory, Castletown and Malew).

Following the ballot, members voted on a motion to nominate Mr Thomas for appointment as Chief Minister.
