Road closures are planned on Richmond Hill later this month to allow drainage maintenance work to be carried out ahead of winter.
The work, which includes clearing roadside gullies and jetting roadside kerbs to improve drainage ahead of winter, will require the closure of New Castletown Road between Fort North roundabout in Douglas and Ballacutchell Road in Santon.
The road will be closed to through traffic from 6.30pm to 10.30pm for up to four evenings from Monday (October 26), with work due to be completed by Thursday (October 29) at the latest.
A signed diversion route will operate via Kewaigue, Old Castletown Road and Oatlands Road, while businesses in and around Newtown, Santon will remain accessible from Douglas.
Access for residents will be maintained, although delays are possible. Scheduled bus services will be marshalled through the works.
The Department said the closure is necessary due to the risk of stones being expelled into the carriageway during the maintenance operation.
Residents and businesses in the immediate area will receive further details about access arrangements by letter.
