Douglas residents are being urged to nominate local heroes for the 2026 Douglas City Council Community Awards, with entries closing at the end of the month.
Now in its fifth year, the awards recognise individuals who have made a positive impact on life in the capital.
Two categories are open for nominations: Community Champion, for a Douglas ratepayer who has made a significant difference to the community, and Young Hero, for a Douglas resident aged 15 or under who has made an outstanding contribution.
Nominations can cover a wide range of achievements, from supporting vulnerable people and mentoring young residents to volunteering, fundraising and environmental work.
Mayor of Douglas, Councillor Steven Crellin JP, who will chair the judging panel, said the awards are an opportunity to thank those who go “above and beyond” to make the city a better place.
While a healthy number of nominations have already been received, the Mayor is encouraging more people to put forward friends, neighbours, colleagues or young people whose efforts deserve recognition.
The winners will be announced at a presentation later this year.
Nomination forms are available on the Douglas City Council website, with nominations open to all island residents, although nominees must live in Douglas. Nominations close on October 31.
