The government still cannot provide any further information on the broken tiles at the NSC.
It was way back in November 2023 when the fault was first identified.
In Keys minister Daphne Caine said about £50,000 has been spent in that time, but the tiles remain broken and part of the pool remains closed.
Facing repeated questions in the House of Keys, Mrs Caine said the department is “following due process” but declined to give a timescale for resolution.
“It is not possible to provide any timescale today,” she said. “The department is continuing to follow due process, and at this stage, I am unable to confirm when the matter will be resolved.”
Election
Jason Moorhouse pressed whether the issue would be resolved before the 2026 general election. Mrs Caine replied: “We are doing everything we can to resolve it, and we’re not working to any political deadlines.”
Rob Callister asked how much had been spent to date with Mrs Caine confirming “the department has spent just over £50,000 on engineers and surveys”.
Lawrie Hooper and Julie Edge both challenged the minister to clarify what “due process” meant, warning that the department had previously been criticised by the Information Commissioner for “applying these blanket exemptions when they are not appropriate.”
Mrs Caine said she was “not able to give this honourable house any further information”.
