Fifty two front-line ambulance services workers received the King’s Coronation medals last week at the organisations 30th anniversary.
Along with eleven medals being awarded to Volunteer Community First Responders.
His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor invited colleagues from IMAS and Volunteer Community First Responders to an event where he and the Head of IMAS presented the King’s Coronation Medals.
The gathering was an opportunity for colleagues to come together to celebrate their commitment and was also attended by Chief Minister Alfred Cannan and Manx Care’s CEO, Teresa Cope.
King’s Coronation Medals
The UK has issued approximately 400,000 coronation medals, which have been awarded to frontline emergency workers and public prison service staff with at least five years of service.
The last medal presentation of this kind was made for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
Head of Ambulance Services, Will Bellamy, said: “As a frontline emergency service, we are often so caught up in day-to-day operations – helping patients and being ready to respond – that we don’t take the time to reflect on the role that we do and appreciate the impact we have on the Island Community.
“I was honoured to be able to present these awards with The Lieutenant Governor to members of my team and use the opportunity to thank them on behalf of us all.”
