Another Duck Rescued From Douglas Pond

Manx Wild Bird Aid has taken in another oil covered duck from Governors Hill pond.

The charity has been looking after several ducks from the pond over Christmas due to cooking oil contamination.

It said that a team from DEFA is currently on site assessing the situation.

In the meantime, the charity is asking people not to feed the ducks in the water.

It said: “It could take some time until the matter is completely resolved, so please don’t throw food into the water.

“The ducks can still be fed out of the water, on the area of grass above the top pond for example.”

The charity has posted throughout the Christmas period about the ducks it rescued.

It still isn’t clear how or where the oil came from.
