The organisers of the Island’s Armed Forces Day have cancelled the outdoor event at the Villa Marina Gardens.
The Chairman of the event said that due to the recent heavy rain, the Villa Marina Gardens are waterlogged and unsafe to hold any outside events.
Regrettably this means that Sunday’s Armed Forces Day outside events have had to be cancelled
Celebrations will continue
There will still be celebrations with the Parade starting at 2pm followed by the afternoon tea. The route begins at the junction of Regent Street and Douglas Promenade and will end at the Villa Marina.
Taking part will be serving military personnel, veterans, cadets and members of the emergency services.
To round off the afternoon there will be a complimentary buffet tea for all between 4pm and 5pm inside the Villa Marina.
This evening members of the Armed Forces community, their friends and families will get together for a social event.
3pm Flypast
At 3pm, look to the skies as there will be a flypast of 2 RAF Hawk aircraft at 3:00pm
