Nikki Arthur delivered a superb performance on her Scotland debut at the British Middle Distance Trail Championships in Keswick on Saturday.
She finished eighth overall and winning the V40 title in a fiercely competitive women’s field.
Competing as part of the RunThrough Lake District Running Festival, the Manx Fell Runners athlete rose to the challenge of a stacked 48km championship race.
Despite modest expectations beforehand, Arthur ran with composure and grit over a revised and weather‑battered course that demanded strength on exposed high ground and technical descents.
After a fast opening and a tough spell near the summit of Dale Head, she battled through heavy legs and nausea before regaining momentum on the descent via Catbells.
A strong final push secured her top‑10 finish and contributed crucial points toward Scotland’s team silver.
Arthur described immense pride in pulling on national colours for the first time and thanked her support team, including partner Orran and her mum, for their role in the achievement.
With another major challenge already on the horizon, her Keswick performance further cements her reputation as one of the Isle of Man’s standout endurance athletes.
