David Ashford (Independent) has confirmed he will contest the upcoming House of Keys election, issuing an introductory leaflet to Douglas North residents outlining his reasons for standing again and the approach he intends to take during the campaign.
In his message to voters, Ashford reflects on the challenges faced by the Isle of Man over the past five years — including housing pressures, strains on health and social care, rising living costs, and growing frustration with public service accessibility. He says these issues have shaped both his work in Tynwald and his decision to seek another term.
Ashford emphasises that the leaflet is not a full manifesto, signalling that a detailed policy document will follow closer to polling day. He criticises what he describes as “vague promises and buzz‑word sentences” often seen in election campaigns, saying he intends instead to set out specific policies and explain how they can realistically be delivered.
He also highlights achievements from his time in office and outlines areas he believes still require sustained attention, noting that his focus remains on practical delivery rather than headline‑friendly pledges.
