Douglas City Council leader Devon Watson has confirmed he will contest a Douglas Central seat in this September’s House of Keys General Election.
Watson, who will run under the banner of the Manx Labour Party, becomes the third declared candidate in the constituency. He says his campaign will centre on tackling the Island’s cost‑of‑living challenges, which he describes as the most pressing issue facing Douglas residents.
He will face competition from Peter Shimmin and sitting MHK Chris Thomas, who has already announced his intention to seek re‑election. The areas other MHK, Ann Corlett has not yet publicly announced her intentions.
Watson is the third Labour candidate to declare with current MHKs, Sarah Maltby (Douglas South) and Joney Faragher (Douglas East) both seeking re-election.
Voters across the Isle of Man will go to the polls on Thursday, 24 September 2026 to elect 24 members to the House of Keys.
