The Assisted Dying Bill will return to the House of Keys tomorrow as members consider its third reading.
If it passes, the Bill, which would give terminally ill islanders a right to end their own lives, would go to the Legislative Council.
The controversial private members’ bill has undergone an intensive clauses stage as members have heard evidence and considered several amendments.
As a result of those debates and a review by a select committee, members have agreed to changes including a five-year residency requirement.
Among those amendments that have been rejected was a bid by the Chief Minister to hold a public referendum on the Bill.
Having completed the clauses stage, it is that amended version that members will debate and vote on tomorrow.
If it clears the Keys, MLCs will likely consider the Bill in the autumn.
