Ballacurn Trust Housing Decision Still Pending

Tim Crookall MHK

A written Tynwald question has clarified why the Department of Infrastructure has not purchased the Ballacurn Trust houses for public sector housing.

The properties, owned by the Department of Health and Social Care, are being disposed of through the standard Government process.

DHSC has instructed the Department of Infrastructure to act on its behalf, with the DoI’s Commercial Team circulating a request for expressions of interest to all Government bodies and relevant housing authorities.

Expressions of interest have been received from the DoI’s Housing Agency and several local housing authorities. The Commercial Team is now assessing those submissions and will report back to DHSC.

No decision has yet been made on the future use or disposal of the houses, with the Department awaiting DHSC’s final determination.

The full written question can be found here.
