Ballafesson Chapel has closed after members voted to “cease to meet”, and the adjoining Hall can stay in community hands if residents support the plan over the next year.
A new group, the Friends of Ballafesson Community, has been formed to trial events, cover running costs, and show the Hall can thrive as a local venue.
If the community doesn’t take up the opportunity, the Hall will be sold on the open market.

A Community Coffee Morning will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 10am to 12pm, with a £2 charge for this first session. With the Methodist Church no longer subsidising the building, future event costs will need to rise to cover hire fees, insurance and utilities.
The Friends plan to run soup lunches, evening events, and charity supporting activities over the coming months, including continued support for the food bank, a possible September jumble sale for the community library, and a music evening currently in development.
Residents are invited to suggest further events that could help fund upkeep and keep the Hall in regular use. The group says the Hall is bright, spacious and ideal for meetings, rehearsals, children’s parties and social gatherings at reasonable rates.
