Grenaby’s Tommy Bass is taking the European Junior Cycling Tour by storm and is sitting in second place with two stages to go.
Bass finished in third place overall in today’s (July 31) stage in Assen, Netherlands.
He will contest a time trial tomorrow (August 1) and a circuit race on Friday (August 2).
Speaking on his son’s achievements so far, Andy Bass said: “He’s got the heart of a lion!”

The European Junior Cycling Tour is about as serious as kids cycle racing gets with over 700 entries from 19 different countries.
Every year, riders from all over the world converge on the Dutch town to battle it out over five days of road racing. It’s the pinnacle of junior cycle racing.
This year, three Team RL360 Cycling riders, Daniel Minay, Thomas Hutchinson and Tommy Bass travel to the event with all three riders having enjoyed very successful seasons in various British Cycling championships both on and off-island with Daniel and Tommy recently being crowned Northwest Champions.
