The Ben-my-Chree has entered dry dock with Cammell Lairds in Merseyside.
Last week saw the back-up vessel reenter service to cover the Manxman when the Steam Packet’s flagship encountered a fault.
With Manxman now back in service, the Ben has gone to the Wirral ahead of new role serving Douglas to Northern Ireland.
Last year the company announced plans to give the Ben a major refit to ensure “all of the public areas on the company’s vessels meet modern standards”.
The Steam Packet said: “She will undergo planned interior refurbishment as well as maintenance tasks, before returning to service on the Larne route in late July.”
