Highway Services is to resurface Braddan Road, from the roundabout at Ballafletcher Road up to, and including the roundabout at Nobles Hospital.
Work will start on the week commencing Monday, September 23 and will take three weeks to complete (weather permitting).
Phase One of Resurfacing
The carriageway between the two roundabouts will be fully resurfaced, one lane at a time.
• Braddan Road will be made one way between the Ballafletcher Road roundabout to the Nobles Hospital roundabout
• Staff and the public will be able to enter the Nobles Hospital estate via the main drive.
• Traffic exiting the main drive will be diverted towards the Strang
• Two way traffic will be maintained between the Strang roundabout and the Hospital roundabout
• All other entrances to Nobles Hospital will be available
• Strang Road will be made one way towards Union Mills, from the Strang roundabout
• There will be no entry into Strang Road from Union Mills. There will be a signed diversion route via Peel Road, Braddan Bridge and Braddan Road to the Strang and Nobles Hospital
The Department of Infrastructure (Do) say phase one will take approximately two weeks.
Phase Two
Phase two will consist of the hospital roundabout being resurfaced.
• The one way system between the Ballafletcher roundabout and the Nobles Hospital roundabout will continue to operate
• Entry into Nobles Hospital via the main drive will be available from both the direction of Douglas and the Strang. There will be no exit from the main drive.
• All traffic exiting Nobles Hospital estate will be directed to the Ballaoates Road entrances. Douglas bound traffic will be directed via Strang Road
• Strang Road will be one way towards Union Mills, from the Strang roundabout
The DoI say that phase two will take approximately one week
Final Phase
The final part of the roundabout will be resurfaced over a weekend.
• The main hospital entrance will be closed to all traffic. Entry into Nobles Hospital will be via the entrance opposite Cronk Grianagh and the entrances off the Ballaoates Road
• The one way system between the Ballafletcher roundabout and the Nobles Hospital roundabout will continue to operate
• All traffic exiting Nobles Hospital estate will be directed to the Ballaoates Road entrances. Douglas bound traffic will be directed via Strang Road
• Strang Road will be one way towards Union Mills, from the Strang roundabout.
