A good news day for islanders as the the Isle of Man Creamery’s spreadable butter will be back on the shelves later this month.
The spreadable butter is due to be back in stock on May 19 after a three week hiatus.
Findlay Macleod, Managing Director of Isle of Man Creamery told Manx.News: “The reason for it is we have been a little bit of victim of our own success, we have been exporting butter for the last couple of years.
“We had a listing with a national multiple, it took off way beyond our expectations. We were also exporting it to Spain and again it way ahead of our expectations.”
Lack of Butter
The creamery boss explained that the business has seen a trend of people moving from drinking skimmed and semi-skimmed milk, to drinking whole milk.
As a result of this, there has been a shortage of the butter fat that comes from the milk when it is skimmed.
Subsequently, the Isle of Man Creamery have spoken with a national multiple in the UK and have withdrawn it’s product from there.
Findlay emphasised the priority Manx customers have in accessing the product, and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
