Can’t Park There Mate

A group of people who sailed to the island mistakenly moored on Ramsey’s Queen’s Pier, not realising it was closed.

Police were called to the pier on Thursday after reports of four people walking on it.

Initially believing them to have gained access from the land side, the restoration committee posted a message reminding people to stay off the pier when it isn’t open.

However, the project manager has said that since speaking to the police, it transpires that the people were sailors who made a mistake.

Dennis Curphey posted on Facebook saying: “It appears that they had sailed to the island and moored to the Pier not realising that it wasn’t in operation as a mooring point, they climbed up and walked to the land end of the Pier and couldn’t find a way out of the compound.

“The Police Officer told them that the Pier was closed and that they need to take their boat round to and I to the Harbour, which they then did, We are happy to inform you all that no malice was intended and there was no cause for any further investigation into the matter.”
