A charity shop in Peel has raised over £2million for multiple charities on the Isle of Man since 2001.
Whilst many charity shops have a specific charity that they raise money for, Peel Charity Shop – Registered Charity 815 chooses to raise money for many local charities on the island.
His Excellency and Lady Lorimer visited the charity shop last week where they presented the donation cheques to charity representatives.
The charities that have benefited from Peel Charity Shop include:
- Peel Coal Fund;
- Manx Mencap;
- Isle of Man Salvation Army Debt Advice and Salvation Army Christmas Appeal;
- Mannin Cancers Support Group;
- Cruse Bereavement Support Isle of Man;
- Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation;
- Samaritans IOM;
- Motiv8 Addiction Services – IOM Charity 275,;
- Great North Air Ambulance Service;
- Peel RNLI Lifeboat;
- Peel & District Anti-Cancer Association;
- Parkinson’s Disease Society Isle of Man;
- Isle of Play;
- Breast Cancer Now;
- Diabetes Isle of Man.
This wonderful contribution would not have been possible without the help of their dedicated group of volunteers who run the shop and the loyal supporters who donate goods to sell.
Government House congratulated all involved, it said: “Your efforts have been invaluable to so many people!
