The ManxSPCA is calling for renewed public discussion on the use of electric shock collars, which remain legal for cats and dogs on the Isle of Man.
The charity says awareness of the issue is low despite a DEFA survey showing that 78.6% of respondents supported keeping the devices legal.
A petition launched by the ManxSPCA in late 2025 is urging DEFA to review and republish its consultation, with the aim of ensuring the public fully understands the current legal position and has the opportunity to influence future policy.

The organisation is also appealing for feedback from owners who support or use electric shock collars, saying their experiences are vital to building a complete picture of how the tools are used in practice.
An anonymous survey has been opened to gather views from all sides, with the ManxSPCA stressing that there are no right or wrong answers and that personal experiences will help inform wider community understanding.
